Machinery Space on USS Downes (DD-375)
Here we see the machinery spaces on the Mahan class destroyer USS Downes (DD-375) while she was being salvaged in Dry Dock 1 at Pearl Harbor on 2 February 1942. At this point she had been written off, and her components were being removed for use in other ships, but it was then decided to rebuild her, and she returned to service late in 1943, two years after the attack.
