USS Claxton (DD-571), Mare Island, May 1944
Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS Claxton (DD-571) off the Mare Island Naval Base on 13 May 1944, after repairs to damage probably caused by medium calibre Japanese guns while she was bombarding Bougainville on 4 February 1944.
