USS Caperton (DD-650) tying up at Saigon, 1953
Here we see the Fletcher class destroyer USS Caperton (DD-650) tying up at Wharf Catinat at Saigon on 20 October 1953, at a point when the city was occupied by the French. However this would end in 1954 when the French withdrew and the city became the capital of South Vietnam.
