Christening of USS Blue (DD-387) and USS Helm (DD-388)
Here we see the christening ceremony for the Bagley class destroyers USS Blue (DD-387) and USS Helm (DD-388), being carried out in Drydock Two of the Norfolk Navy Yard on 27 May 1937. This can't really be called a launching ceremony, as there is already water in the drydock (thus the need for the long platform for the VIP guests). The Blue is nearer to being completed than the Helm, and has already been given her forward gun turrets. She was also commissioned two months earlier the Helm.
