USS Benson (DD-421) from above, 1943
This overhead view of the Benson class destroyer USS Benson (DD-421) on 10 May 1943 gives us a good view of her layout, with two guns at the front and three at the stern, all in gun houses and in this case one quintuple torpedo tube mount, with the second mount already removed. Note the use of the top of the torpedo tube mount for extra storage, suggesting it wasn't often needed. It is possible that the second mount is actually hidden under the clutter behind the second funnel.
