USS Belleau Wood (CVL-24) at Norfolk, 1953
Here we see the former Independence class carrier USS Belleau Wood (CVL-24) at Norfolk Navy Base in December 1953, after she had been handed over to the French, who used the French version of her name, Bois Belleau, which commemorated one of the main American battles on the Western Front in 1918.
