Stern view of USS Abner Read (DD-526), Hunter's Point, 1943
Here we see a stern view of the Fletcher class destroyer USS Abner Read (DD-526), at the Hunter's Point Navy Yard, California, on 13 June 1943. From this angle we get a good view of the unusually wide fantail of these destroyers, which gave significantly more room for extra anti-submarine weapons.
