Here we see a Republic P-47D Thunderbolt from the right, showing the bubble cockpit canopy and cut down rear fuselage introduced to improve visibility.
This aircraft served with the 351st Fighter Squadron, 353rd Fighter Group, then the 361st Fighter Squadron, 356th Fighter Group (both 8th Air Force) and finally the 355th Fighter Squadron, 354th Fighter Group (9th Air Force). The aircraft was shot down by flak near Luxembourg on 16 January 1945.
