Curtiss YP-37 in flight

Curtiss YP-37 in flight
Here we see a Curtiss YP-37 in flight, showing the unusual layout with the cockpit towards the rear of the fuselage to make space for the turbosupercharger and radiators required by the Allison V-1710 engine. The P-37 was abandoned in favour of the Curtiss P-40, which had a more conventional cockpit position and a large air intake below the nose.
