North American B-25C of the 491st Bombardment Squadron taking off (1 of 2)

This close-up shows us a North American B-25C or B-25D of the 491st Bombardment Squadron, identifiable by the combination of the glazed bombardier nose, navigator's glass dome behind the cockpit and rear mounted dorsal turret.

These pictures come from the collection of Sydney Lester, who served as a Staff Sergeant in the 491st Bombardment Squadron (341st Bombardment Group). Many thanks to his son Ron Lester for providing us with this pictures.
