Putting two half B-17s together

This picture shows a fully working B-17G being made by joining together the front and rear halves of two badly damaged aircraft. The join looks to be between the letters Y and J on the fuselage, which don't line up. The work is being carried out at the 2nd Strategic Air Depot, Abbots Rippon
