Here we see the nose of a B-17 of the 92nd Bombardment Group. The picture was taken while the group was posted at Alconbury (January-September 1943), so this is probably a late production aircraft (B-17F-75 or later) - the chin turret was introduced on the last few B-17Fs, while the B-17G didn't appear in Europe in time for this picture. The 92nd BG had tested the heavily armed YB-40 bomber escort in combat, and this may explain why it also gained the chin-turret armed versions unusually quickly.
