8th Army Tanks in Trieste, 2 May 1945
Here we see tanks from the 8th Army in the Via Carlefilzi in Trieste on 2 May 1945, the day of the German surrender in Italy. The 8th Army reached Trieste just as the Germans surrendered, and were soon involved in a tense standoff with Tito's partisans.
