Eighth Army Infantry in Convent Chapel Crypt, Cassino
Here we see infantry from the Eighth Army sheltering in the crypt at the convent chapel of Monte Cassino abbey, a very strong structure that survived over 100 direct hits, and was where the monks had sheltered during the initial bombing at the start of the second battle of Cassino.
