Here we see a Regimental Plate from No.42 Squadron, RAF, signed by members of the squadron. Although there is no date on the plate, the bold signature at the base is from W.H. Cliff, the squadron's commanding officer in April-May 1942, and commander of No.236 Squadron from September 1943. This would suggest that the picture dated to his time in command of No.42 Squadron in 1942.
