3.7in AA gun bombarding Gothic Line
Here we see a British 3.7in anti-aircraft gun being used to bombard German positions at the Adriatic end of the Gothic Line during the initial assaults during Operation Olive (25 August-October 1944). The main Gothic line was actually breached during these early attacks, but the advance was stopped further north. This picture gives a good view of the complexity of the 3.7in gun, which was a very sophisticated anti-aircraft weapon, but also a good artillery gun when needed.
