321st B.G. Headlines page 3 - 28 May 1943
Page three of the 321st Bombardment Group's post-war 'Headlines' pamphlet covers their first clash with enemy fighters, on 20 March 1943 during a sweep over the Sicilian Straits, and a major battle over Bo Rizzo airfield on Sicily on 28 May 1943. However the claim to have shot down seventeen German and Italian fighters is almost certainly an exaggeration, as were the majority of wartime claims on both sides.

This document comes from a pamphlet produced by the 321st Bombardment Group after the war, which told the story of the group's activities from 15 March 1943-15 March 1945 in the form of a newspaper.

Many thanks to Christine Stewart for sending us this document, which came from the collection of her father in law Eugene W. Stewart, a staff sergeant in transportation with the 321st Bombardment Group.
