321st B.G. Headlines page 1 - 15 March 1943

Page one of the 321st Bombardment Group's post-war 'Headlines' pamphlet covers their time before arriving in North Africa, and their first combat mission, an attack on Mezzouna in Tunisia on 15 March 1943. The photograph shows the Group's commanding officer Col. Robert D. Knapp talking with Major General Doolittle (centre), commander of the Northwest African Strategic Air Force, and Lt General Spaatz, commander of all American air units in the theatre.

This document comes from a pamphlet produced by the 321st Bombardment Group after the war, which told the story of the group's activities from 15 March 1943-15 March 1945 in the form of a newspaper.

Many thanks to Christine Stewart for sending us this document, which came from the collection of her father in law Eugene W. Stewart, a staff sergeant in transportation with the 321st Bombardment Group.
