17-pounder anti-tank guns approach the Foglia
Here we see a British 17-pounder anti-tank gun being towed towards the Foglia River, on the Adriatic side of Italy, after the start of the battle of the Arno Line had seen the Allies cross the Metauro River a little further to the south. The Foglia itself was crossed early in Operation Olive, the attack on the Gothic Line, although the advance soon bogged down a little further to the north.
