17cm Kanone 18 on the Eastern Front
Here we see the German 17cm Kanone 18 operating somewhere on the Eastern Front. The 17cm Kanone 18 and very similar 21cm Morser 18 had a double recoil system, with the normal barrel recoil combined with a carriage on rails. This carriage can be seen behind the German solder removing a spent shell from the breech.
