German defences and American plans, Omaha Beach
This map shows the German strong points defending Omaha Beach and the planned landing points for the first wave of American troops, with C Company of the 2nd Rangers on the far right, four companies of the 116th Regimental Combat Team on the right and four companies of the 16th Regimental Combat Team on the left. Most of the actual landings took place to the left (east) of these points.
